Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has disclosed his plans for the future following AFCON 2023.
After guiding Nigeria to the final of the recently concluded AFCON 2023, where they narrowly lost 2-1 to the host nation Ivory Coast, the 63-year-old Portuguese coach is now a free agent with his contract with the NFF having expired. Peseiro has not yet made a decision regarding his next coaching position.
Rumors link him to the vacant Algeria job, and he acknowledges having up to seven offers on the table. Peseiro stated, “I informed everyone to come back at the end of the month. What is certain is that I want to continue coaching, and I need to choose wisely.”

“As of now, all options remain possible. I have received numerous offers and contacts from national teams and clubs—approximately 5, 6, or 7 offers. I’ve conveyed to them that I need some rest, and once my contract expires, I will discuss and contemplate other projects to decide my future. Currently, I need to take a break and maintain calmness.”
“I am open to considering the proposals and projects presented to me and will assess whether they align with my preferences or not,” he added.
