I left Corinthians because I was getting death threats – Willian

Willian, a striker for Brazil, has admitted that getting death threats led him to decide to break his contract with Corinthians.

After departing Arsenal, the 34-year-old joined his hometown team once again last summer.

His stay at the club has not been easy, though, and on Friday his contract was terminated.

Willian will soon sign with Fulham and make his Premier League comeback.

“I didn’t travel to Brazil expecting to be threatened.

“My family received threats and curses on social media whenever Corinthians lost, as well as occasionally when I was performing poorly in the game.

Willian told reporters for the Globo Esporte that “my wife, my girls, after a time (they) also started hitting my father, and my sister.”
