Liverpool standout Luis Diaz has revealed that encountering Argentina legend Lionel Messi left him feeling like he “almost died.”
Expressing his admiration for Messi as the best footballer globally, Diaz shared his overwhelming experience meeting the former Barcelona icon during an interaction with Colombian magazine, SoHo.
He elaborated, stating that the sheer excitement of meeting the 36-year-old nearly overwhelmed him.

According to AlbicelesteTalk, Diaz remarked, “When I met Messi, I almost died. I was on the verge of telling him: ‘I love you and everything.’
“Leo has always been my role model. He is the best in the world. I adore him. I even have his jersey; I requested it through another player. He signed it for me and wrote: ‘With affection for Luis.'”
Diaz, enjoying a stellar season with Liverpool, has encountered Messi twice in his career thus far.
