Veteran Nollywood performer and director Funke Akindele has gushed about the impact Sola Sobowale had on her professional life.
Akindele documented her first meeting with the seasoned actress on Instagram in honor of Sobowale’s 59th birthday. She recalled how she had approached Sobowale on the set of a movie to express her desire.
Funke expressed to Sobowale her desire to collaborate with her on a project as a producer or director, and Sola prayed for the fulfillment of her wish.

Her wish came true today when Sola Sobowale, who produced and directed the film Battle on Buka Streets, in which she portrayed her mother, was released.
She wrote:
I’ve known My Darling Aunty Sola Sobowale for years.
Quick Story, when I was still trying to find my feet in the movie industry. I met Aunty Sola on a film set. I walked up to her and told her that someday I pray and wish to work with her on a project as a Producer or a Director. She wished me well and prayed for me. She told me that day would come to pass and it surely did. Just as you said Aunty, you worked with me on Battle on Buka Street and it’s a hit!!!
