During a recent interview with the ladies of Your View on TVC, Kunle Remi shared his thoughts on not receiving any nominations for the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) this year, despite his standout performance in the popular movie, Anikulapo.
Kunle Remi expressed his disappointment and frustration with the situation, stating that it was disheartening not to receive any recognition for his hard work and dedication. He mentioned how he had put in a lot of effort into the role of Saro and had received a lot of positive feedback from fans and critics alike.
However, he also acknowledged that the decision-making process for awards shows can be subjective, and that there are many factors that go into selecting nominees and winners. He expressed hope that in the future, the criteria for selection would be more transparent and inclusive.

Kunle Remi also emphasized the importance of continuing to work hard and improve his craft, regardless of awards and accolades. He stated that he is committed to his craft and will continue to put in the work to bring his characters to life on screen.

During the interview, Kunle Remi was asked “How were the AMVCA nominations?” to which he responded:
KUNLE REMI: Nominations? Well, I fall into the category of the non-nominated actors. It’s a new category [laughs].
“We are part of the people who felt like ‘how dare they’, but we would like to hear from the horse’s mouth. How you felt, and how you took it?”
KUNLE REMI: How I felt? First things first, it is not my show. It is their show. I like the fact that the world spoke. People kept on being like why why why, but we we can’t really have the answer to that. They have the answers to that. But for me, it doesn’t reduce my value, it doesn’t make me less of an actor, it doesn’t make me less of a screen god. Anikulapo, which people were expecting, still broke the records it broke. Still the number 1 watched film globally in a language film, next to Squid Game. And I put in the work, I saw the effort, and I didn’t do that because of the awards. I did that because it was a challenge and it is such a privilege to play that character, and we will never forget Saro. I think that is the greatest award. I’m going back for Anikulapo series again. I’m looking forward to it. It’s a whole rollercoaster again.
It is good to see Kunle Remi taking the lack of nomination in stride. It happens, and he is not the only person this year that did not get any nominations.
