Skit creator, actor, singer, and influencer Isaac Aloma is from Nigeria and is better known online as Zicsaloma. Zicsaloma is well known for his hilarious characters and videos. He has also managed to secure the participation of a number of well-known celebrities in his skits. There are so many personalities who have appeared in Zicsaloma’s skits, including Patience Ozokwo, Mr. Ibu, and Bobrisky, who is infamously difficult to book for acting roles.
In a recent interview with TVC, Zicsaloma discussed the financial realities of being a skitmaker as well as how he is able to secure these famous people to appear in his skits. What Zicsaloma said is as follows.
During his interview, Zicsaloma was asked “We caught up on some of your skits and we saw Patience Ozokwo in there, we saw Mr. Ibu in there. It’s not easy getting the veterans in skits. So, tell us, how did that experience go, and then, are you paying these people to be in your skits?” He said:

ZICSALOMA: Most of them are paid actually, yes. It’s just like calling them for any other job, like calling them for your movie. That’s how skit is now. You know, there was a time when skit was seen as just child’s play, but right now skit is on another level. So right now, calling them is just like calling them for a Nollywood job.
“So based on that, let me ask you about the business of skit making and social media. There’s plenty of money to be made obviously because you people are building houses with pools, driving Benzes, buying one car after the other. Please abeg Zic, explain to us how exactly this works? When people see skitmakers making so much money, many people believe it’s a lie. How exactly do you guys make all of these massive moneys?”
ZICSALOMA: Me I would have preferred them to keep believing it [laughs]. It will favor us more [laughs]. There is money online. You are reaching out to people and there are so many paid platforms and if your content is doing really well, the amount you can make is limitless. So there are different ways you can make this money online. So for example, if you have your business, it is an added advantage for you to have a lot of online followers. That is one, then as I said, there are platforms that pay for your views and if you are an influencer, you get a lot of ads, you get a lot of endorsement deals. Like I remember when they posted one of my achievements online, somebody commented “Ah you guys, you people will not tell us what you’re doing”, somebody now said “Do you know they pay these guys as high as hundred thousand naira for advert?” I was like ah okay, even this one sef doesn’t know. Brands pay well. So long you give them value for their money, they pay you.
