The prominent mobile phone and accessory store Samsung Plaza, which was destroyed by fire on Monday night in Wuse II, Abuja, was broken into by thugs who stole merchandise from the showroom. The store was situated along Aminu Kano Crescent.

The event was verified by Nkechi Isa, the FCT Emergency Management (FEMA) Public Relations Officer.

Mrs. Isa said that the thugs who were robbing the burning business attacked the Federal Fire Service (FFS) guys who had been sent in to put out the fire.

In a video that has gone popular on social media, onlookers could be seen lamenting as they watched helplessly as the building caught fire, while others were seen rushing for safety.

According to a FEMA official, “men of the Federal Fire Service who were sent to quench the fire were attacked by hoosies, so they had to request reinforcement from the Police and NSCDC.”

She claimed that attempts were being made to put out the fire even though its source was yet unknown.
