The Awards, which are slated to take place on Saturday, November 11, will also act as the culmination of a weeklong festival honoring the finest in African film.

Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings PLC Herbert Wigwe stated that the organization is committed to helping up-and-coming filmmakers.

“We will continue to invest in the future, share knowledge across the continent, and provide opportunities for young talents to thrive and measure up to their counterparts around the world as we deepen our footprint across the continent,” Wigwe stated.

The Access ecosystem will keep working nonstop to create a world where Africans believe in the potential of their ambitions, where creatives have the platforms they need to shine, and where creativity is one of the top exports from our continent.

The winner of this category will get funding for a comprehensive training program in addition to a sizeable monetary award. The winner of this program will have the exceptional chance to produce a sponsored feature film that will be screened at AFRIFF 2024.

AFRIFF’s “Best Short Film” category has a long history of acting as a springboard for notable successes in the field. Previous winners, such as Gordon Napier, Wanuri Kahiu, and Keni Ogunlola, have accomplished noteworthy feats; Ogunlola’s “The Royal Hibiscus Hotel” has garnered international recognition.

The goal of AFRIFF is to celebrate and promote the rich diversity of African film. AFRIFF was founded to present both modern and vintage African films, offering inspiration, knowledge, and amusement to both domestic and foreign viewers.

AFRIFF is dedicated to promoting the development and international recognition of African cinema through film screenings, panel discussions, workshops, and awards ceremonies.
