On January 22, 1968, Guy Ramsay Ferry, the son of Penelope Anne (née Price) and Lewis James Ferry, was born in Columbus, Ohio. He was raised in Ferndale, a small town in Humboldt County, California. His love in eating and cooking began while he studied abroad in France during his senior year of high school.

Fieri studied at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in hotel administration in 1990.
