Graham Potter consents. Chelsea has taken calculated risks by signing players to six, seven, and eight-year contracts, but the head coach of the Blues is optimistic that the plan will succeed since the newcomers “are not here to be fourth or third, they are here to win.”

Chelsea has made significant investments this season to restructure its first-team roster under the Todd Boehly/Clearlake Capital ownership.

The focus has been on acquiring players with tremendous potential and making sure they spend their prime years at Stamford Bridge.

Because of this, newcomers Marc Cucurella, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Cesare Casadei, as well as January’s David Datro Fofana, have all signed contracts that last until 2029. Until 2030, Wesley Fofana, Benoit Badiashile, and Noni Madueke are all contractually bound. The deal with Mykhailo Mudryk is valid until 2031.

Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah, and Armando Broja are all academy graduates who signed long-term contracts this season. Chelsea has also adopted a similar strategy.

Potter stated, “You have have the humility to recognize we don’t have all the answers with every action. “Since you can’t see into the future, you must make the most educated judgment you can and try to predict what might happen as nearly as you can. After that, you decide accordingly.

“The guys we’ve found are young and talented, as you saw with Badiashile over the weekend. With Mudryk and Joao joining on loan, a certain age range of player has been signed.

“Because they are just beginning their careers, they have high aspirations. They are here to compete and win, not to finish third or fourth. These are the benefits, but can a life be lived without danger? No. Any action you take has risk and a probability that it won’t be successful.

Under Boehly/Clearlake, Chelsea has invested about ยฃ500 million in players. That demonstrates the ownership group’s desire and readiness to give Potter a team that can contend in the Champions League and Premier League’s top divisions for many years.

Potter said, “I’ve come here to win; that’s the job and that’s what we’re trying to achieve. “You must create a team, a culture, and an environment to accomplish it. When I go back over the previous five years, the teams that have won the championship have done so with 90 or more points.

“That’s not just about skill; it’s also about the atmosphere, culture, a consistent everyday behavior, correctly allocating your resources, and then fighting every day.
