Gbolahan Oki, the General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, has been suspended by Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu (LASBCA).
Sanwo-Olu also stated that an inquiry into the fall of the 21-story building in Ikoyi, Lagos State, on Monday would be conducted.

As a starting measure, the Governor has ordered that Oki, an architect, be immediately suspended from work. The suspension will be in effect indefinitely.
Gbenga Omotoso, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, stated this in a press statement.
“The Lagos State Government is forming an impartial panel to investigate the collapse of the 21-story building on Gerrard Road, Ikoyi,” the statement said.
“Members of the panel will come from the Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIA), the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, the Nigeria Society of Engineers, and other professional organizations.”
It will conduct an independent investigation into the incident’s remote and immediate causes and offer recommendations on how to prevent similar incidents in the future. The investigation is separate from the government’s ongoing internal investigation.
“Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has stated that the government will investigate what went wrong and punish those who have been charged.”
As a preliminary move, the Governor has ordered that Mr. Gbolahan Oki, the General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, be suspended from his duties immediately. The suspension will be in effect indefinitely.”
