Late Islamic singer from Nigeria, Rukayat Gawat Oyefeso was buried today, September 24, not long after she passed away.
As previously reported by Gossipinfo, preacher Alfa Aribidesi At-Tawdeeh Islamic Da’awah, based in Ilorin, posted about the singer’s passing on social media.
According to Punch Newspaper, the Solatul Janazzah (Prayer for the Dead) was earlier observed for the singer in Ojota, Lagos State on Tuesday.

However, the final prayer and burial took place in Ijebu Aiyepe, Ogun State at noon and video capturing the funeral ceremony stirred emotions among social media users.
In the video, people mostly family and friends were seen surrounding the singer’s graveyard, mourning their loss.
Brother to the deceased, Jubril Gawat, who is a Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu quoted a Quran verse on his X account on Tuesday morning.
His post read, “Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.” Q 2 V 156.
