Sharing her journey, actress Funmi Awelewa wrote, “The last few months were tough for me, but I am grateful God gave my mother another chance. At some point, I lost my mind, and I couldn’t find a better word to describe how I felt. Seeing one’s mother going through so much pain can be frustrating. My mother lost her sight a long time ago, and witnessing her in so much pain saddened me, affecting everything around me. It impacted my movie career; I stopped going to locations since July last year to concentrate on taking care of her. It also affected my business as I kept going from one hospital to another. I turned down many party invites, with some colleagues thinking I am proud or don’t want to mingle, not realizing I am battling with my mother’s health.”

Funmi Awelewa, a talented Nigerian actress, has established herself in the entertainment industry, garnering numerous awards and nominations.
