The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ Abia State Command has detained four individuals for running an unauthorized refinery within the state.
Usman Alfadarai, the state commandant, hailed the arrest as “a major boost in the overall fight against all forms of vandalism of critical national assets and infrastructure, illegal dealing in petroleum products and related economic sabotage against our nation, Nigeria” as he paraded the suspects at the location of the illegal refinery.
According to Alfadarai, his men made the arrest after conducting a continuous 48-hour surveillance in and around Obiakpu, Obuzo-Asa, in the Abia State region of Ukwa West.

This action, which he said was taken just one week after he assumed office as commandant of Abia State, is a strong message to vandals that they should either change their ways or leave the state because the corps will not allow the enemies of the Nigerian economy to function even for a small window of time.
