Jose Peseiro, the former manager of the Super Eagles, is reportedly on the brink of returning to the national football team after nearly two months since stepping down from the position.
Peseiro, who led the team to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final earlier this year, initially departed due to contractual disputes with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Despite ongoing efforts to find a successor, including the solicitation of applications from both domestic and foreign coaches, no replacement has been appointed yet.

Although Peseiro has been linked to various coaching opportunities, he has yet to accept any of them. However, there are reports indicating that John Enoh, Nigeria’s Sports Minister, has approached Peseiro about a potential return, which the Portuguese coach finds appealing, particularly with the opportunity to guide Nigeria to the 2026 World Cup.
