Bayern Munich has initiated discussions with former Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick regarding the potential of him replacing Thomas Tuchel this summer.
With Tuchel poised to depart Bayern at the season’s end, speculation has been rife regarding his successor for the upcoming 2024/25 campaign.
Initially interested in Xabi Alonso, Bayern Munich had to shift their focus elsewhere after Alonso committed to staying at Bayer Leverkusen. Various names have been linked with the managerial role, with Rangnick confirming talks with Bayern and notifying his current employer.

“There has been communication from Bayern Munich, and I have informed the Austrian Football Association,” Rangnick disclosed to 90minuten.at.
“If Bayern expresses their interest, then I would also have to contemplate whether I desire this opportunity. If I am considering other options, I will first discuss it with the Austrian FA. My primary focus is on the Austrian national team, and we are fully concentrated on the European Championship.”
When queried about his motivation to accept such a role, Rangnick emphasized, “For me, it boils down to these factors: Can I make an impact? Is there potential to develop a team and achieve success?”
While Rangnick’s brief stint as Manchester United’s interim manager concluded on a sour note, his coaching reputation in Germany remains positive. He has notably guided various clubs to success, including Ulm, Stuttgart, Hannover, Hoffenheim, Schalke, and RB Leipzig. His tenure at Schalke saw them secure the DFB-Pokal and reach the Champions League semi-finals in 2011.
Given his track record, Rangnick could prove to be a fruitful option for Bayern Munich as they seek to reclaim the Bundesliga title from Bayer Leverkusen next season.
