Former Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has revealed that he has spoken with Mikel Arteta about a possible fairytale return to the club. The 38-year-old is still actively playing and is currently aiming for promotion to LaLiga with Real Oviedo through the play-offs. Oviedo recently faced Eibar in a two-legged semi-final, with the winner advancing to the final to decide promotion.
Cazorla, who played for Arsenal from 2012 to 2018 and won the FA Cup twice, left the club after enduring severe injury setbacks. Reflecting on his time at Arsenal, he shared, “I spent six wonderful years there and I know how much all the people love me.”
He added, “Of course, I was fortunate to share a dressing room with Mikel Arteta and now he is the manager. We had conversations about a return, but right now I am focused on contributing to Oviedo and continuing to enjoy football as a player,” Cazorla told Sky Sports.
