According to sources, Christopher Nkunku has reached an agreement on a pre-contract with Graham Potter’s team and is “glad” to join them next summer.
Following a “secret medical” in the summer before the transfer market closed, Nkunku now seems to have committed his long-term future to Chelsea.
Chelsea has moved quickly to sign him even though he signed a two-year extension with RB Leipzig until 2026 back in June as part of an agreement to protect his value.

According to The Athletic, Nkunku has signed a pre-contract deal, and Chelsea has agreed to pay more than his €60 million release clause.
Next summer, when his release clause becomes effective, there will be a transfer war that has already begun.
However, Chelsea seems to have won the race by being proactive to prevent losing out to their competitors on another recruitment target, the focal point of their 2022 summer transfer window.
Todd Boehly, the club’s chairman and co-owner, moved quickly to make another sizable investment in the team, and Nkunku was touched by the outpouring of support after Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and other teams kept an eye on his position.
The France international Telefoot said in June, “It’s no secret that clubs are interested in me.
It’s flattering, yes. However, having a team like Leipzig make every effort to keep me is also flattering.
“In this situation, we must carefully consider our options and choose wisely. This is a factor to be considered as the World Cup gets underway.
You only need to consider it, as I mentioned.
Fabrizio Romano asserts that Nkunku, 21, was pleased with the contract Chelsea offered him, saying in the days before a deal was reached: “Chelsea have submitted a proposal to the player, which he’s delighted with.”
Graham Potter, the head coach, declined to address any rumors, stating: “My response to that type of stuff is until it’s a player for us, I don’t really speak about other players. So, no comment.”
But Chelsea is almost there; they only need to wait until the end of the campaign to seal the transaction and make their new player official.
