On Tuesday, Justice Nathaniel Ayo-Emmanuel of the Federal High Court in Osogbo, Osun State, sentenced five individuals who had been charged with cyberstalking and cheating Timothy Owoeye, the former speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, out of N38 million.
A 13-second nude video of Owoeye went popular on the internet at some point in 2018.
Some of the people in the video harassed Owoeye, claiming he was visiting their community to carry out a ceremony.

Before the video was allegedly made public online, the people in it were allegedly using it to steal N38 million from Owoeye. As a result, the Osun State Police Command detained them.
On October 19, 2018, the court heard the arraignment of Kazeem Agbabiaka, Rasheed Ojonla, Babatunde Oluajo, Adebiyi Kehinde, Femi Oseni, and Oyebanji Oyeniyi on five counts related to conspiracy, advance free fraud, and cyberstalking.
Judge Ayo-Emmanuel delivered the case’s verdict, declaring that the guilty behaved like a web syndicate, putting their victims through misery and deserving of no mercy.
Following that, he found them guilty and gave Agbabiaka, Oyeniyi, Ojonla, and Oluajo five years in prison for conspiracy and advance-free fraud.
On the accusation of perhaps engaging in cyberstalking, the judge, however, cleared and released Ismaila Azeez, but found Oseni guilty and gave him a five-year prison sentence.
