The Federal Capital Territory Police Command’s agents have freed five hostages from two distinct kidnapping gangs in Abuja.
A joint squad from the FCT Special Intervention Squad and the FCT Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit successfully freed the five victims.
The development was revealed on Monday at a press conference held at the Command Headquarters with crime reporters by SP Josephine Adeh, the Public Relations Officer for the FCT Police.

“Ladies and gentlemen of the press, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you all to the FCT Police Command today and to also provide you with an update on the command’s successful rescue of victims who were kidnapped,” stated SP Adeh.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on January 27, Iddo Division received a distress call reporting gunshots heard in the Sabon Lugbe area. When a female identified as Blessing Eze was found inside a black Toyota Corolla with the license plate RSH 724 KC and a bullet wound to her shoulder, a police patrol squad was dispatched to the area.
Blessing revealed that as she and her husband, Joshua Eze, were on their way home, three thugs in an unidentified car betrayed them, opened fire on their car, and kidnapped her husband, taking him to an unidentified location.
“In response, the victim (Eze) was rescued unharmed at Kuje Forest on January 28, at around 06:20 pm, by the IGP-Special Intervention Squad, the Police Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command, and other tactical sections.
In related news, on January 28 at approximately 05:30 am, Peter Ede and ThankGod Ogunyi, both males from Piwoyi, Lugbe reported to Karmo Division that, at approximately 01:50 am on the same day, while praying at Idu Gbagyi mountain Karmo, a group of approximately seven criminal elements, Three of their members were kidnapped and taken to an unidentified location by attackers brandishing weapons and cutlasses.
Following the report, police officers from the Karmo Division, under the command of CSP Abaya Haruna, the Divisional Police Officer, quickly assembled at the location, searched the surrounding hills and bushes between Karmo and Gwagwa, and engaged the thugs in a severe gunfight.
“The three victims, a male named Eric Chukwudi, a female named Precious Uche, and a male named Igbodi Emeka, were rescued unharmed.”
