Upon his confirmation and unveiling by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Monday, May 13, the former Real Betis winger swiftly set out expectations for the national team members.
According to Pulse Sports, Finidi emphasized that every player selected to don the Nigerian jersey during his tenure must demonstrate unwavering commitment, starting with consistent appearances for their respective clubs.

“Nigeria takes precedence, and it’s imperative that you maintain regular playtime at your club while showing utmost dedication,” Finidi declared during his inaugural press conference as Super Eagles coach.
The NFF has awarded Finidi a two-year contract with the task of securing Nigeria’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and clinching victory in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Refuting speculations of discord with players, Finidi has affirmed a harmonious relationship with the Super Eagles squad and dismissed rumors of any conflicts during his interim coaching stint, as reported by Complete Sports.
