Students in Senior Secondary School one and two are no longer allowed to take the external West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), the National Examination Council (NECO), or the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).

The Federal Ministry of Education issued a circular to principals of federal unity schools informing them of the situation.
On Friday, the circular was signed by Hajia Binta Abdulkadir, the ministry’s Director of Senior Secondary Education, and confirmed by Ben Bem Goong, the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations.
“The ministry’s attention has been directed to the flagrant disrespect of its order on the writing of external examinations such as NABTEB (NTC and NBC), WASSCE, and NECO (SSCE) by SS1 and SS2 students,” the circular stated.
Students that are participating in the activity have a hard time focusing on their coursework. They become obnoxious and obstruct other students’ efforts to achieve their objectives.
“Any student found writing any of the aforementioned exams in SS1 or SS2 classes would be expelled from the college.” These exams must be taken by all students after they have been properly enrolled by the college.
This circular should be rigorously followed by all Federal Unity College students. Principals are also encouraged to share the contents of this circular with all of the college’s parents.”
