Femi Kuti, an afrobeat singer, has indicated his desire to be cremated following his death.
Femi said this during a performance at the New Afrika Shrine last Sunday, according to The Nation.
The 59-year-old stated that he did not want a noisy burial ceremony, but rather cremation following a private funeral attended by his family and friends.

“Please cremate me and burn my body when I die.” “It’s the most sanitary technique,” he explained.
Femi also urged his audience to examine what happens to bodies buried in Lagos cemeteries.
“Have you all considered Ikoyi Cemetery?” This Lagos has existed for, say, 60 years, and people die; if they don’t die today, they will die tomorrow, and the cemetery has never been filled. And, if you look at it, it’s not like it’s one million acres because we used to bury people there when I was a kid,” he continued.
Femi’s younger sister Sola Kuti, who died in 1997 shortly after their father Fela Kuti, was cremated in Lagos, according to reports.
