A complication arises from potential compensation claims by Burnley, Leeds, and Leicester, all adversely affected by Everton’s breach of financial rules. Burnley faced relegation during the 2021/22 season when the overspending occurred, while Leeds and Leicester dropped into the Championship last season. Both clubs feel aggrieved that the Premier League did not address Everton’s case earlier, which could have resulted in a points deduction in the preceding campaign, potentially altering the relegation landscape.
