Portugal goalkeeper Diogo Costa empathized with captain Cristiano Ronaldo’s frustration following his penalty miss against Slovenia in the Euro 2024 Round of 16 clash on Monday.
Portugal triumphed 3-0 in the penalty shootout, with Costa crucially saving three penalties.
Ronaldo had earlier missed a penalty in extra time during the match against Slovenia.

Reflecting on the game in his post-match interview, Costa stated:
“We all know Cristiano is the hardest worker.
“I understand his frustration because he dedicates himself completely to this. It’s a pleasure and an honor to be his teammate.
“We are a family, I truly believe that. My focus was on seizing these opportunities and helping the team. That’s what matters most.
“This is probably the best game of my life.”
Portugal will now prepare to face France in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals.
