Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is on the verge of signing a new contract with the Premier League champions, reports The Mirror. The proposed deal would make Haaland the highest-paid player in the English top flight.
City have reportedly offered the Norwegian a staggering £500,000 per week, surpassing the current highest earner, his teammate Kevin De Bruyne, who earns £400,000 per week.
Negotiations have progressed positively, with club officials recently meeting Haaland’s family and his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, to discuss the terms. If finalized, the deal will secure Haaland’s services until the end of the 2028-2029 season.

However, discussions are still ongoing over one key aspect of the agreement. Haaland’s current contract includes a £150 million release clause, which City are keen to remove in the new deal. The player’s representatives, however, prefer it to remain. A potential compromise could see the release clause raised to £200 million.
Since joining Manchester City three seasons ago, the 24-year-old has been in sensational form, scoring 105 goals and providing 14 assists in 114 appearances across all competitions.
