Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has dismissed reports of dressing room unrest, countering recent allegations that players were questioning his tactics and signings. Several journalists were barred from Tuesday’s press conference amid claims of disunity following the team’s defeat to Newcastle United.
Ten Hag refuted the reports, addressing the issue during the press conference attended by select journalists. He acknowledged the natural discontent among players not in the starting lineup but insisted there were no significant issues.
“In every team, there are always players who are not playing as much and may be less happy. In some circumstances, you need that, and they have to wait for their chance. But no, there are no issues,” Ten Hag clarified.

The United manager denied any pushback from players and pointed to recent positive performances against Everton (a 3-0 win) and Galatasaray (a 3-3 draw with defensive errors) as evidence that most players are aligned with his methods and philosophy.
“I always listen to my players and give them opportunities to express their opinions. If players have a different opinion, of course, I will listen. But they haven’t told me… maybe one or two. But in general, the majority wants to play like this – proactive, dynamic, brave. You can see the players are behind it because of the performances against Everton and Galatasaray,” Ten Hag explained.
He emphasized the unity within the team, citing recent notable comebacks and impressive football displays as evidence. Ten Hag further conveyed that he welcomes feedback from players but has not encountered significant dissent.
Sources indicate that Ten Hag currently enjoys the full backing of United’s hierarchy and incoming minority investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The focus within the leadership is on establishing stability and reshaping the club’s approach to transfer dealings.
