Erik ten Hag has called for an apology from Fulham regarding a TikTok video that appeared to mock Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes following last weekend’s Premier League clash between the two clubs at Old Trafford.
Fulham’s official account posted the content on TikTok, focusing on Fernandes after a challenge from Sasa Lukic. The video, set to comedic music, implied that the Portuguese midfielder was playacting, even though he quickly got up after showing discomfort. The accompanying caption read, “So glad he’s ok…,” accompanied by an eye-rolling emoji.
Ten Hag commented on the situation, stating, “I didn’t know this, but if they did it, I would say it is not right. It’s absolutely not right that a club makes such statements because it is totally out of order, and they were wrong. So they should apologize for this.”

The Manchester United manager, defending his player after a recent FA Cup victory over Nottingham Forest, also emphasized the need for referees to provide more protection to Fernandes.
“He is a very passionate and creative football player, creating the most chances in the Premier League. You see opponents targeting him, and especially after Saturday when he had a knock and they see it, I feel the refereeing should protect him,” said Ten Hag.
He further criticized the opponents for targeting Fernandes and emphasized the importance of the referee’s role in safeguarding players.
Ten Hag praised Fernandes as a leader, describing him as highly skilled, creative in the final third, and a leader by example on and off the field. He made Fernandes the club captain last summer, considering him among the best players he has worked with.
