Romelu Lukaku, a former Chelsea striker, claims that he struggled at the club last season because he wanted to exact “revenge” on the west London team.
When speaking candidly about his unsuccessful debut season at his parent club Chelsea last season, Lukaku said it was a trying time for him.
The Belgian international is back at Inter Milan on a one-year loan following his £97.5 million club record return to Chelsea.

During his two seasons with Inter, the former Manchester United star scored 64 goals and captured the Serie A championship in 2020–2021.
In an interview with DAZN (via Football Italia), Lukaku clarified what went wrong following his summer 2018 transfer to Chelsea.
“I suppose when I left [Chelsea], I wanted to exact revenge against Chelsea because when I was young, it was my team for eleven years,” the 29-year-old remarked. When I had the chance to return, I believed I would be hailed as a hero, but that was not the case. When I first learned that there was a chance to return to Inter in March, I hesitantly kept quiet, but by the end of the season, we had done an excellent job with the club. I was able to return here, too.
“I only reflect at the end of the season,” Lukaku continued. I observed that when playing for Inter, I fared well; but, my time at Chelsea was challenging. I decided to return here because I had no concerns about it.
