However, Boehly would later come to the conclusion that the German was “maybe better suited to the more detached managerial style of the previous regime,” despite giving Tuchel more influence over hiring than he had with the previous Chelsea board.

Tuchel and Boehly engaged in a lot of back and forth.

Tuchel had expressed displeasure with some of Boehly’s decisions to impose certain players on him; Anthony Gordon is one such player.

Tuchel reportedly had little interest in the 21-year-old Everton winger, but Boehly’s data analysts lobbied for him nevertheless.

The Chelsea board chose not to pursue a deal for Gabriel Jesus before he joined Arsenal, and this reportedly caused Tuchel to get “frustrated,” according to The Athletic.

Early in the summer, some of the owners suggested signing Gabriel Jesus, but Tuchel stated he didn’t want a No. 9 because of the Romelu Lukaku incident, according to The Athletic.

“He changed his mind afterwards, but he was disappointed when Chelsea’s owners decided not to continue the transaction and Jesus, who was eager to join Stamford Bridge, joined Arsenal. On the day before the deadline, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang finally showed up.

In the end, it appears that the Tuchel-Boehly connection was never going to be successful.
