Former Arsenal player Mikael Silvestre has cast doubt on the potential acquisition of Victor Osimhen from Napoli, suggesting that he doesn’t view the Super Eagles striker as an improvement over Gabriel Jesus.
Amid increasing calls for Arsenal to secure a new number nine due to criticism of Jesus’ goal-scoring performance this season, the Premier League North London club has been linked with Osimhen and Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
Silvestre, however, believes that Osimhen’s playing style differs from that of Jesus, emphasizing that the Nigerian international doesn’t roam as wide as Jesus.

“Osimhen is also a top player, perhaps a bit more focused on goal-scoring than Gabriel Jesus. I don’t necessarily see him as an upgrade,” remarked Silvestre, as quoted by The Sun.
“He is a different kind of player compared to Jesus. Osimhen tends to stay more central and doesn’t drift as wide.”
“While you always want your No.9 to score as many goals as possible, Jesus is contributing to Arsenal’s attack in different ways,” Silvestre added.
