Wayne Rooney, a former striker for Manchester United, has pleaded with the team to allow Cristiano Ronaldo to depart this summer.
Ronaldo is reportedly aiming to leave Old Trafford because he wants to play for a Champions League team.
However, the greatest clubs in Europe have all turned down the 37-year-old, including Chelsea, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich.

Ronaldo is rumored to have told Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, that he is prepared to give everything against Brighton this weekend as he appears destined to stay at Old Trafford.
But Rooney believes it’s time to bid the football legend farewell and is pleading with United to sell his former teammate before the transfer window shuts.
“United are making every effort to get Frenkie de Jong, but they could use a midfielder as well. Rooney wrote in his Sunday Times column that there was also a No. 9.
“I believe that United ought to release Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo is capable of playing for a Ten Hag team. He is able to join any team. You can always count on Ronny to score.
To win the league in the following three to four years, the goal must be to build a team capable of doing so, he said. “But in my personal opinion, United aren’t ready to challenge for the title now,” he said.
