Despite the postponement of this weekend’s Premier League games, Graham Potter managed Chelsea’s first training session on Friday.

Chelsea is reportedly preparing as usual for their Champions League match against Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea was supposed to travel to Fulham on Saturday before all UK football games were canceled out of respect for Her Majesty the late Queen Elizabeth.

Potter was formally introduced on Thursday as Chelsea’s first manager under the new ownership of Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.

Co-controlling owners Potter and Boehly spoke to Chelsea staff members on Thursday as the Blues’ new era took another important step.

Boehly, the chairman of Chelsea, compares Potter to Andrew Friedman, a baseball executive he chose to lead the LA Dodgers in California.

Boehly and his fellow Dodgers owners assumed that Friedman had picked up all the shrewd business techniques while playing for the Tampa Bay Rays, who were overachieving.

Boehly and Eghbali believe Potter developed the same resource-maximizing mindset while playing for Brighton, and they believe the additional resources Chelsea has available might enable him have a significant impact at Stamford Bridge.

The long-term plan by Chelsea’s new owners to transform the west London club totally has already begun.

Thomas Tuchel was sacked on Wednesday after the new Blues managers gave their fledgling ownership a 100-day appraisal.

The Chelsea board thought Tuchel’s tenure had lost its way after a stunning start in which the German coach led the Blues to the Champions League championship in just 124 days at the helm of Stamford Bridge.

Although the majority of people think Tuchel’s dismissal was brought on by Chelsea’s dismal 1-0 Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb, the decision to fire Tuchel had already been decided before the match.
