Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has voiced his astonishment regarding criticism from former players aimed at current players.
Guardiola expressed understanding when such critiques originate from journalists but expressed bewilderment as to why former players would take a prominent role in criticizing their successors.
His comments came in response to recent criticism directed at Erling Haaland, who scored 36 goals in the previous Premier League season, by former Manchester United captain Roy Keane.

Keane criticized Haaland for his limited impact during City’s 0-0 draw with Arsenal on Sunday, stating that the 23-year-old’s overall performance fell short of Premier League standards.
“I’m surprised when it comes from former players,” Guardiola stated during a press conference. “Journalists I understand, but former players, I’m surprised.
“It’s akin to former referees criticizing referees… memory fades quickly.”
