Jurgen Klopp, manager of Liverpool, has declared that he won’t work again for at least a year after leaving the Reds, whenever that may be.
After just over six years at Mainz and seven complete seasons at Borussia Dortmund, Klopp’s tenure at Liverpool has lasted more than seven years, making it the longest of his managerial career to date.
The German had been expected to leave Liverpool in 2024 when his last deal expired, but he later agreed to new terms earlier this year that would keep him with the club through 2026.

According to him, “nothing will absolutely be done for a year” if he leaves Liverpool.
In addition, Klopp hasn’t ruled out coaching the Germany national team before his retirement, a position he has been frequently linked to in recent years.
“It’s not entirely impossible that I’ll serve as the national coach at some point. However, it must fit. And thus far, it hasn’t,” the twice-champion of the Bundesliga said.
In the past, Klopp has stated that he intends to visit Germany at some point in the future, possibly to coach or simply to relax in retirement. He also stated his plan to retire before he turned 60, which will happen in just four and a half years, at that time, which was in 2016.
“I will most definitely move back to Germany, but I’m not sure if I’ll be working as a coach there. One day, I’ll be able to say, “Thanks, it was a pleasure,” Klopp previously told RND.
“By the time I turn 60, it’s extremely improbable that I’ll still be sitting on the bench. And even if I only managed to coach Mainz, Dortmund, and Liverpool during my tenure, those would still be three excellent teams.
When his current Liverpool contract expires in 2026, Klopp will have just turned 59.
