Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has defended Jack Grealish’s contributions to the team since he signed from Aston Villa.
Grealish was acquired by the Premier League champions for £100 million last season, making him the most expensive British player ever.
The 27-year-old was substituted midweek in the Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund because he had little effect on the game.

Prior to Saturday’s Premier League trip to Wolves, Guardiola fought hard for Grealish, claiming that his teammates weren’t giving him enough support.
“In the previous game, he was the lone forward to make aggressive one-on-one runs. We left him alone since he lacked colleagues in the box to produce assists.
“Erling (Haaland) was the only person present when he went up against the full-back. Both Kevin (De Bruyne) and (Ilkay) Gundogan should have been present but weren’t. We didn’t make any moves in the first half to assist the players who were in possession of the ball and provide them with opportunities to make things simpler, according to Guardiola.
Grealish has made 28 Premier League appearances for City, scoring three goals while only contributing three assists.
He was Villa’s talisman, contributing to 32 goals in his final 62 Premier League games over the course of two seasons.

“He does it while he plays, and there was another reason. I want him to score goals, and he wants assists, too.
