Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte revealed what he said to forward Heung-min Son after the South Korean scored a hat-trick in 30 minutes against Leicester City on Saturday after coming off the bench.

The South Korean forward has had a sluggish start to the new campaign by his elite standards, having contributed only one assist across all leagues as of this past weekend.

Because of this, Conte made the decision to omit the 30-year-old from his starting lineup for the game against Leicester.

Son, a South Korean international, joined the game 59 minutes into the game and scored three goals to aid Spurs in their 6-2 victory over the Foxes.

On Son’s hat-trick, Conte told Sky Sports: “I am pleased for Sonny today.” You are aware of how I feel about the player. I said, “Maybe we can repeat this experiment if you score three goals in 30 minutes,” in jest to him.

“I’m lucky to have a fantastic team of athletes who are also fantastic people. We need to start thinking differently if we want to go forward.

Recall that Conte, though, is confident in the South Koreanโ€™s abilities and character and will continue to support him.

Conte told reporters, โ€œI understand Sonny is a tremendously clever player.

He is a top dude, a really wonderful guy, and quite sensible. If I must set an example, I would prefer to choose a husband for my daughter who is someone like him.
