Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has suggested that Chelsea is anticipating a potential transfer ban, which he believes is the reason behind the club’s aggressive recruitment strategy.
Speaking to beIN Sports, Mikel noted that Chelsea has spent ยฃ185 million on 10 new players, including Pedro Neto, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Filip Jorgensen, Omari Kellyman, Renato Veiga, Marc Guiu, and Tosin, among others. He also pointed out that Chelsea has been signing players to unusually long contracts.
“The club has a lot of players, to put it simply,” Mikel said. “They keep signing and signing, but I think thereโs a strategy behind that.
