Chelsea Manager Enzo Maresca Outlines Vision for Future Premier League Dominance
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confidently predicted that the club will “dominate English football” within the next five to ten years, though he admits they are not contenders for this season’s Premier League title.
The Italian manager has consistently downplayed Chelsea’s chances of competing with the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, and Liverpool for league supremacy this season. Even after the Blues drew level on points with Arsenal over the weekend, midfielder Cole Palmer echoed Maresca’s cautious outlook.

Despite his realistic short-term expectations, Maresca remains optimistic about Chelsea’s long-term prospects. Speaking ahead of their clash with bottom-placed Southampton, he emphasized the potential of his youthful and expensively constructed squad.
“When I first met with the owners and sporting directors, I told them that because of the squad’s age and quality, Chelsea will be one of the teams—or the team—that dominates English football over the next five to ten years,” Maresca said. “No matter who the manager is, the foundation is here for long-term success, and I still firmly believe that.”
Chelsea’s summer spending spree saw them invest nearly £200 million on nine permanent signings, making them the biggest spenders in world football during the transfer window. However, Maresca revealed that the club’s hierarchy has not set immediate objectives.
“They didn’t ask for any specific targets,” he explained. “Their focus is on building something significant for the future, and I think we are moving in the right direction.”
When asked about his personal goals, Maresca insisted he’s not looking too far ahead: “I know it’s hard to believe, but I’m not focused on the end of the season or even next season—that’s not real right now.”
Chelsea’s unbeaten streak of six matches across all competitions suggests progress is being made, but Maresca remains focused on steady growth rather than instant success.
