Enzo Fernandez reportedly labeled Mason Mount a ‘coward’ during their heated confrontation following Chelsea’s thrilling 4-3 triumph over Manchester United.
Mount, who departed Chelsea last summer, clashed with Fernandez late in the match as tensions escalated. Following Cole Palmer’s late heroics that turned the game around, the two exchanged words after the final whistle.
Captured by ESPN cameras, Fernandez can be seen shouting at Mount before walking away. It’s alleged that the Chelsea player repeatedly referred to Mount as a ‘Cagon’, a term meaning ‘coward’ or ‘chicken’ in Spanish.

Fernandez’s actions drew a mixed response from fans, but many Chelsea supporters lauded the Argentine for displaying passion for the club after a significant victory.
During the match, one fan even held up a Chelsea shirt with Mount’s former number 19 on it, alongside the word ‘JUDAS’, expressing frustration over Mount’s departure from Stamford Bridge last summer.
Despite Mount’s commendable 15-minute performance on the field, he couldn’t prevent a shocking defeat against his former team in just his second game back from a calf injury.
This marked Mount’s 15th appearance of the season, with injuries hindering the 25-year-old since his transfer to United, who paid an initial £55m to secure his services last summer.
Manager Erik ten Hag is gradually reintegrating Mount after his lengthy spell on the sidelines, and the midfielder will aim for more playing time on Sunday against Liverpool, who were also keen on acquiring his services before his move to Manchester.
