The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has made a decisive ruling on the disrupted oriental derby between Rangers FC of Enugu and Enyimba Football Club of Aba.
Enyimba players walked off the field after Rangers were awarded a controversial penalty during added time at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu.
The NPFL management has now awarded three points and three goals to Rangers due to the abandonment of the match by Enyimba.

Enyimba has been fined N10 million for failing to control its players, disrupting the NPFL live broadcast, and causing the match to be discontinued. Additionally, three Enyimba players—Eze Ekwutoziam, Chibuike Nwaiwu, and Akanni Elijah—are under investigation for further sanctions.
Rangers has been charged with “over-ticketing, leading to overcrowding” and failing to provide adequate security and crowd control measures during the match, resulting in a cumulative fine of N5 million.
The official letter stated:
“An order forfeiting 3 points and 3 goals in favor of your opponent for refusing to allow the penalty awarded to your opponents to be taken, thereby disrupting the match and bringing the game into disrepute.
“An order for Enyimba to identify and produce for further investigation and appropriate sanctions, other players and officials complicit in the disruptive conduct (particularly against the match officials) that led to the discontinuation of the game, in addition to the following identified players: Eze Ekwutoziam (Jersey No.6), Chibuike Nwaiwu (Jersey No.27), and Akanni Elijah (Jersey No.10).”
