The deceased had gone to the market to purchase cassava peels, according to a statement released on Wednesday by Kehinde Adeleke, the spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ Osun State Command.

Adeleke continued, saying that while the teacher was attempting to board a motorcycle, a car abruptly entered the market and struck him, killing him on the spot.

It claimed, in part, “The driver of the aforementioned car lost control of it while traveling from Ibadan to Osogbo as a result of a mechanical issue. A teacher in an Odeomu school in the Obada Area was the casualty.

“As the victim was trying to get on a motorcycle after purchasing cassava peels from the Obada Market, the automobile struck him.

“As soon as they learned the person had died, others in the area set the car on fire. The car’s driver fled the scene, and it is unclear where he is now.

Adeleke stated that the Osun NSCDC State Commandant, Mr. Michael Adaralewa, also pleaded with citizens to help law enforcement authorities maintain safe roads in the state by abiding by the law. Adaralewa urged drivers to make sure that traffic regulations are strictly followed.
