The Nigerian Army’s contribution to the nation’s democratic development was praised by Minister of Defense Abubakar Badaru during the Regimental Dinner Night held in honor of recently retired and retiring senior officers in Abuja.

Badaru urged other services in the region to take a page from the Army, saying that this has made the Army a shining example in the West African region and beyond.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, said that the minister asked the Army to uphold the nation’s democracy and continue to be faithful to the constitution.
The minister tasked the armed forces to uphold loyalty and the democratic culture in Nigeria and abroad, according to a portion of the statement.
He continued by saying that the Armed Forces’ attitude toward democracy has made them a model for democracy in West Africa and a force to be reckoned with among the international community.
The minister said that the event gave the Nigerian Army a chance to consider its service and the deep commitment shown by the top commanders who are retiring and retiring.
“He stated that the Federal Government will persist in utilizing all available means to enhance the welfare of active and retired personnel.”
Badaru also praised retiring and former Nigerian Army officers for their selfless dedication to maintaining national stability and their willingness to make sacrifices.
He promised to pay their pension on time.
Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, the National Assembly, and the Minister of Defense for their unwavering support of the Nigerian Army.
He reiterated the NA’s unwavering allegiance to the President and the country in the performance of its constitutional duties, which include protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
He counseled the senior commanders who had retired to give thanks to God and the Nigerian Army for their successful tenure in the “noble profession of arms” and reaching the milestone of meritoriously leaving active duty.
