The APC candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, was pronounced by the court to be the legitimate victor of the Kano governorship election held on March 18.

The three-person panel, chaired by Justice M.A. Adumeh, rendered a decision on the appeal filed by Governor Yusuf and declared that the NNPP candidate was ineligible to run in the election because, at the time of the election, he had not registered as a party member.

In response to the Appeal Court’s decision, the governor voiced hope that he would win back his victory at the highest court.

Notwithstanding, Ganduje, ecstatic at the Appeal Court’s decision, swore that the APC nominee will prevail in the Supreme Court.

“I thank Allah for this important judgment,” he uttered. In spite of all the diversions that have occurred since the case’s inception, we must express our gratitude to the judiciary for its excellent administration of justice.

“This is unquestionably a win for democracy. It is a win for Kano State and the APC alike.

This suggests that democracy in Nigeria is here to stay.

Overall, though, it’s likely that they will proceed to the Supreme Court, which is a democratic body. They have every right to appeal to the Supreme Court. We are prepared to face them at the Supreme Court as well. And, God willing, we will also prevail at the Supreme Court.
