The Murtala Muhammed Airport Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), on Wednesday, said it intercepted N3.55 billion Tramadol tablets imported into the country from Pakistan and India.
Speaking at a press briefing, the Customs Area Controller, Compt. Muhammed Yusuf, also disclosed that the Command generated N74.28billion from imports between January to October, 2023.
Compt. Yusuf went on to say that the shipment of illegal drugs was stopped because it was thought to have exceeded the Federal Government’s allowed threshold.

“The Command has seized unlicensed pharmaceutical products in the context of anti-smuggling operations that it believes to be Tramadol tablets. The consignment was suspected of surpassing the Federal Government-approved level, which led to its interception. The aforementioned items’ total Duty Paid Value (DPV) was N3.55 billion, the speaker said.
Regarding revenue generation, Compt. Yusuf stated that 2023 collections exceeded 2022 collections by 23%.
“Customs duty and other charges brought in N74.28 billion in revenue for the Command between January and October 2023, the evaluation period. in contrast to the N60.05 billion in revenue that was earned during the same period in 2022.
