Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that he will retire from football when he no longer feels motivated to play.

The 39-year-old made the comments after scoring twice in Portugalโ€™s 5-1 victory over Poland in a UEFA Nations League match. The goals brought Ronaldoโ€™s career tally to an astonishing 910 goals.

The match also marked Ronaldoโ€™s 215th appearance for Portugal, during which he netted his 134th and 135th international goals.

Speaking about his future, Ronaldo said:
“I just want to enjoy. Retirement? If it has to happen in one or two yearsโ€ฆ I donโ€™t know. Iโ€™m turning 40 soon, and I really want to enjoy it. As long as I feel motivated, Iโ€™ll keep going. The day I donโ€™t feel motivated, I will retire.”

Ronaldoโ€™s comments highlight his focus on maintaining passion for the game as he approaches the latter stages of his illustrious career.
