Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that he will retire from football when he no longer feels motivated to play.
The 39-year-old made the comments after scoring twice in Portugalโs 5-1 victory over Poland in a UEFA Nations League match. The goals brought Ronaldoโs career tally to an astonishing 910 goals.
The match also marked Ronaldoโs 215th appearance for Portugal, during which he netted his 134th and 135th international goals.

Speaking about his future, Ronaldo said:
“I just want to enjoy. Retirement? If it has to happen in one or two yearsโฆ I donโt know. Iโm turning 40 soon, and I really want to enjoy it. As long as I feel motivated, Iโll keep going. The day I donโt feel motivated, I will retire.”
Ronaldoโs comments highlight his focus on maintaining passion for the game as he approaches the latter stages of his illustrious career.
