On Monday, a car in the Charlie Boy neighborhood of Gbagada, Lagos State, knocked down two female staff of the Lagos Waste Management Authority.
The two unidentified women died at the scene, according to an eyewitness who spoke with our correspondent over the phone and went only by the name Sodiq.
“It was a horrific accident; two LAWMA women were just knocked down while performing their duties by a Sienna vehicle,” he stated.

The driver hit the two women while driving straight here; we’re not sure what was wrong with him. It’s very unfortunate.
The motorist has been detained and turned over to law enforcement.
According to additional information received by our correspondent, witnesses were incensed by the occurrence and blocked the Gbagada-Oshodi Expressway, causing a backlog of traffic.
It is reported that commuters and drivers are stuck in gridlock for hours at a time.
It’s said that law enforcement officials are struggling to maintain control of the situation.
