The Association of Sons and Daughters of Ilorin Emirate has detained controversial traditionalist Tani Olorun for allegedly defaming Islamic academics in Ilorin, including the revered Emir of Ilorin.
Tani Olorun, who is renowned for his outspoken opinions on traditional practises, is said to have made a number of remarks that the Ilorin Emirate found to be insulting and derogatory towards Islamic academics. The Association decided to act after these words created a commotion on social media.
The Association of Sons and Daughters of Ilorin Emirate, headed by Alhaji Murithado Abdul Kareem (Muri Bariga), its National President, took the situation seriously and made the decision to deal with it right away.

According to Muri Bariga Tani Olorun’s comments not only crossed the line of respect but also tarnished the reputation of the revered Islamic scholars in the region.
The Association further send a strong message that derogatory comments or actions against religious figures will not be tolerated.
