The Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) award will be given to Nigerian Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM 1, who is one of the 437 nominees for this year’s national honours to be presented by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, October 11.
The Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR), which is only given to presidents and a select few extremely distinguished citizens, and the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON), which is only given to vice presidents and other extremely distinguished citizens, are two of the at least seven categories of national awards in Nigeria.
The President will present KWAM 1 with the MON award at the ceremony on Tuesday. His name was listed among those to receive it.
