Chelsea defender Levi Colwill expressed his joy at scoring his inaugural Premier League goal against Brighton. In the 3-2 victory on Sunday at Stamford Bridge, Colwill netted the team’s second goal in the 21st minute. Having spent time on loan at Brighton last season, he chose not to celebrate his goal.
Speaking with TribalFootball, Colwill said, “I’m buzzing to get my first Premier League goal and my first goal for Chelsea, in fact.” He added, “I guess it’s somewhat slightly bittersweet for me in the sense that it’s come against Brighton, a club that means so much to me, but I’m really pleased to help the team get the three points.”
While acknowledging the significance of the goal, Colwill emphasized his desire to show respect to Brighton. He stated, “The goal meant a lot to me, but I also wanted to show respect to Brighton. We needed that victory, and that’s what matters the most, so I’m really pleased.”

Colwill expressed his admiration for Brighton as a club, acknowledging the role they played in his career. He stated, “I’ve got so much respect for Brighton as a club. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for them, so I’ve got a lot of admiration for them and for the manager there.” Despite his connection to Brighton, Colwill emphasized his commitment to Chelsea, saying, “I play for Chelsea, and this club means so much to me as well. I had a job to do, and I’m just glad we got the win as a team.”
